St Luke’s, Downham

“LIFE at St Luke’s”

Our vision is for St Luke’s to be a place of life for all who come to our church and to be a source of life for our local community.

St Luke’s is a small but very active Church of England (Anglican) church on the Downham Estate. Everyone is welcome at St Luke’s regardless of ages, backgrounds, needs, experiences and faith.

Around 30 people from all sorts of ages, backgrounds and faith experiences meet on Sundays at 11am and we have loads of activities during the week such as the Front Room Club (a community café), Busy Bees Toddler group, and so on.

Our aim is to be a welcoming and accessible church where people with different needs can find a welcome. Our main space is step free and has an accessible toilet; we provide fidget toys and multisensory resources for children and adults; and we try to be a non-shushing church where people can move around if they need to. Indeed our vicar is neuro-diverse and we seek to provide a place for all to belong, contribute and participate.

If you have any questions or want to introduce yourself, please do contact Nick (the vicar) on 07774516204 / revnick@CandDParish.co.uk or our Accessibility Champion, Amy, via Children@CandDParish.co.uk

Safeguarding:

The District Church Council (DCC) of St Luke’s Downham recognises the need to safeguard the children, young people and adults in our care and guard against the possibility of any form of abuse of children, young people and adults by persons who may be acting in the name of our parish. We take our responsibilities to safeguard everyone who attends our church very seriously and have therefore paid due regard to safeguarding policy and procedure. We therefore resolve that we will comply with the duty under section 5 of the Safeguarding and Clergy Discipline Measure 2016 (duty to have due regard to House of Bishops’ guidance on safeguarding children and vulnerable adults).

If you have any safeguarding concerns please speak to Rev. Nick Walsh on 07774516204, one of the Church Wardens or our safeguarding officer – Lucie Walsh on 07817478110 / Lucie@CandDParish.co.uk
