We’re looking for a part time cleaner/caretaker for 4 hours a week (£10.20 p/h).
The District Church Council (DCC) of St Luke’s Downham is seeking to employ someone to ensure that the church building and environment is clean and safe, and correctly arranged and to assist with the smooth and efficient running of the church premises.
The Role: The aim of this role is to provide weekly cleaning of the church and to assist with set up for Sunday services. There will also be monthly and annual cleaning tasks which will need to be coordinated and undertaken as part of this role. This role will also include monitoring cleaning supplies and equipment and arranging for replacement/restocking.
There may be scope for additional/increased hours depending on how the role develops.
The Person: The right person for this role will:
- Take pride in keeping St Luke’s clean and tidy.
- Be able to take instruction and work to required standards
- Be able to be flexible in relation to duties and hours of work.
- Be reliable and trustworthy.
- To have a friendly and helpful disposition and be able to welcome visitors to the church from time to time.
- Be physically able to undertake the tasks required.
- Be able to work independently
Terms, Conditions and Pay:
The role will initially be for 4 hours a week paid £10.20 per hour (the London Living Wage) and comes with 23 hours annual leave.
Church Cleaning and setting up for Sunday services needs to take place between 3pm on Saturday and 9am on Sunday (on most weeks – there may be some occasions when this is different), however the four hours can take place at any point between these times. Projects and monthly/annual tasks can take place at other times.
